Hi! I’m Chelsea

I’m a painter and sculptor in Phoenix, Arizona. My work focuses on brushstroke, light, and shadow. Usually with a focus on organic subjects such as animals and landscapes.

My paintings are layers of contrasting colors to build depth until the eventual subject matter is created. I start my work with layers of acrylic and finish off with thin, wispy layers of oil paint. I choose to create work on wooden surfaces, as the smoothness best lends itself to the clean, untextured and precise marks that evolve into my abstracted-yet-representational work. 

I work as an art handler and make artwork in my free time. When I’m not making artwork or hanging art in someone’s home, I’m hanging out with my rescue pup Roux, going for hikes and bike rides, or cooking with a newly-discovered recipe.
